"Make It a Safe Kids Summer Safety Fair" to Be Held September 1 - Metro Pk
Fair Sponsored by Safe Kids Northeast Florida, Wolfson Children's Hospital

Jacksonville, Florida, August 17, 2007 -- The first of five summer safety fairs that begins a year-long project to address preventing childhood injuries during the summer months, a "Make It a Safe Kids Summer Safety Fair" will be held Saturday, September 1, from 10 am - 1 pm at Kids Kampus, Metropolitan Park, in Jacksonville. The fair and project are funded by Kohl's and conducted by Safe Kids Northeast Florida and Wolfson Children's Hospital. There is no charge to attend.

A "Kohl's Cares for Kids" check in the amount of $48,037.70 will be presented during the event to Wolfson Children's Hospital in support of its Safe Kids Northeast Florida chapter. The donation will be used to conduct injury prevention activities in the community during the upcoming year, including drowning prevention programs and five summer safety fairs, which focus on safety in and around cars, along with water, bike, pedestrian and falls education. Parents with their children will be given free booster seats, bike helmets and Water Watcher tags to help keep their kids safe during the months of the year when accidental injuries are most likely to occur.

"Since 2006, Kohl's has donated more than $65,000 to Wolfson Children's Hospital," says Larry Freeman, administrator of Wolfson Children's Hospital. "The donations have gone to support Safe Kids Northeast Florida's injury prevention programs throughout our community. Accidental injuries are the leading cause of death in children under 15, and we are focusing on injuries that are more likely to occur during the months of April - October, when children are traveling on vacations, swimming, riding bikes and playing outdoors."

Kohl's commitment to Wolfson is made possible through "Kohl's Cares for Kids." Net profits from the sale of special merchandise support children's health and education; throughout 2006, Kohl's raised more than $85 million for such initiatives nationwide. The program also includes the "Kohl's Kids Who Care® Scholarship Program" for youth volunteers, fundraising gift cards for local schools and nonprofit groups, and an associate program to encourage volunteerism.
